Turn math fact practice into an expedition.

Adaptive fluency practice for grades 1–8. Built on the science of automaticity — not another timed-drill worksheet dressed up as a game.

The problem with fact practice today

Kids can build fluency without learning to hate math.

36%
of U.S. 4th graders scored proficient in math on the 2022 NAEP — the largest drop in the assessment's history.
The Nation's Report Card (NCES)

is the working memory limit. Every non-automatic fact eats a cognitive slot that should be free for problem-solving.
Cognitive load theory (Miller, 1956)

students develop math anxiety from timed-test pressure — which blocks the same working memory used to recall facts.

The three-part approach

Most fact apps do one of these well. Math Fact Expedition does all three.

I.

Fluency

Ten-minute daily sessions build automaticity — the moment when facts stop consuming working memory and start feeling automatic. Spaced repetition, accuracy first, no punishing timers.

The evidence-based bedrock
II.

Targeted Instruction

An adaptive engine identifies exactly where each student is stuck — specific facts, specific operations — and delivers focused practice on the gaps. No wasted minutes on what they've already mastered.

What most fact apps skip
III.

Engagement

An ocean expedition kids actually want to log into. Dive sites, sea creatures, and expedition milestones unlock as fluency grows. The gameplay serves the math — never the other way around.

Why kids don't fight practice
How the expedition works

One product. Three people who care.

For students

A real expedition, not a leaderboard.

Kids chart a course through the ocean, unlocking sea creatures and dive sites as facts become automatic. Adaptive engine adjusts difficulty in real time.

  • Addition through division, K–8 aligned
  • 10-minute sessions, daily habit-building
  • No timers that punish — pacing that supports
For teachers

Class dashboard shows fluency by operation, growth over time, and who needs targeted support. Print-ready benchmark reports for conferences and MTSS.

  • Up to 150 students per teacher license
  • Assign daily missions to whole class or groups
  • Progress reports for MTSS documentation
For parents

Ten quiet minutes. Real progress.

Questions from the crew

Before you board.

What ages and grades is this for? +
Math Fact Expedition is designed for grades 1–8 — ages roughly 6 to 14. It covers addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, with adaptive difficulty that meets students where they are. That includes early first-graders working on basic addition and older students needing fact fluency remediation before algebra — a range most other fact apps skip.
How is this different from XtraMath? +
XtraMath is a beloved nonprofit that helped popularize daily fact practice — and it's nearly free. But its own reviews on Common Sense Media consistently describe it as boring, stressful, and repetitive, with kids fighting parents about opening it. That's the gap Math Fact Expedition fills. Same evidence-based fluency approach, but with an ocean expedition kids actually want to log into, adaptive pacing instead of a punishing timer, and richer progress reports for parents and MTSS. A tool your child refuses to use is worth $0, no matter the price.
How is this different from Reflex or Prodigy? +
Reflex is excellent but built for school district budgets — typically $35–$65 per student per year, paid by the school. Prodigy is heavily gamified but often criticized for prioritizing game mechanics over math practice, and its business model relies on selling parents an upgrade. Math Fact Expedition keeps the math central, the game supportive, and the price accessible to individual teachers ($49/yr) and families ($29/yr) without district approval.
What does "lifetime" actually mean? +
Lifetime means for as long as we operate Math Fact Expedition, with a guaranteed minimum of 5 years from your purchase date. If we ever discontinued the app before your 5 years were up, you'd receive a prorated refund for the months remaining. Practically: you pay once ($49 for families, $79 for educators) and never pay again, and your access goes with you if you change email or move schools.
Is student data private? +
Yes. We collect only a first name, an avatar, an optional PIN, and practice data from students — never last names, emails, or photos. Data is stored securely, is never sold or shared, and is never used to train AI. Parents and teachers can view or delete a student's data at any time. Read our Privacy Policy for the full details.
When does the app launch? Am I pre-ordering? +
Yes — Founding Members are pre-ordering. The app is in private beta right now, with a public launch planned for early September 2026, in time for the school year. When you claim Founding Access, you're locking in lifetime pricing and helping shape the product before it opens up. If we don't launch by December 2026, you get a full refund, no questions asked.
Do you offer school or district licenses? +
Yes — school and district pricing is available separately. Get in touch via the email capture below and we'll send a district quote and integration details (Clever, ClassLink, Google Classroom rostering all supported).
